1. Information stored on your device
The following stays on your device. We do not receive it:
- Location (latitude, longitude and place name), used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
- Preferences: language, theme, prayer calculation method, notification settings and Hijri date adjustment.
- Reading data: Quran bookmarks, last-read position and Mushaf settings.
- Tasbeeh: your saved tasbeeh entries and their counts.
Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device. You can delete all of this at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
2. Location
With your permission, Rahnuma uses your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction. You can instead search for a city by name.
- When you use your current location, the position comes from your device's location services, which are provided by Google Play services on most Android devices.
- When you search for a city, or when the app shows the name of your location, the search text or coordinates are sent to Android's geocoding service, operated by Google, to find the place. Google's Privacy Policy covers this.
- When you tap Nearby Mosques, Rahnuma opens your maps app (or Google Maps in the browser) with a mosque search near your saved location. That app's privacy policy applies.
- Apart from the cases above, Rahnuma does not send your location to us or to any other party, and does not track your location in the background.
- You can deny or withdraw location permission in your device settings and enter a city manually instead.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob and partner networks)
Rahnuma is free and supported by ads. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which also selects ads from these partner ad networks through AdMob mediation:
- Unity Ads (Unity Technologies)
- Liftoff Monetize (Liftoff Mobile, formerly Vungle)
To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google and these partners may collect and use:
- your device's advertising ID;
- device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version;
- your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location;
- information about ad interactions, such as views and clicks.
This information is collected by these companies, not by us, under their own policies:
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- Unity Privacy Policy
- Liftoff Privacy Policy
US privacy: Rahnuma asks Unity Ads and Liftoff Monetize not to sell or share your personal information, under US state privacy laws such as the CCPA.
Ad content: Rahnuma limits ads to content suitable for general audiences (rated "G") and blocks ad categories that are inappropriate for an Islamic app.
Your choices:
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): if you are in these regions, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. Your choice is also passed to the partner ad networks. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices.
- Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (on most devices: Settings → Google → Ads).
- If you decline personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads.
4. Notifications
Prayer-time notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to us or to any server.

7. Children
Rahnuma is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are limited to general-audience content.
8. Data security and retention
Data stored on your device stays there until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. We hold no copy of it.
9. Your rights
Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is no data on our side to access, correct or delete. For data collected by Google for advertising, see Google's privacy controls at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy. 10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if the app adds new features. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
